Is it either Heaven or Hell?
Don’t spend more than a moment counting on a wishing well
Perhaps you have fallen under Satan’s spell
You are not the first
But imagine if you could be the last?
Consider if men learned from their past
Resisted the temptress despite how good she looked in the red dress
Seal your fate for the delight of a mortalizing caress
Could a man deny it even at his best?
Why such a demand for the distinction between the organs down below and in our chest?
Too many susceptible to the temptation of lust at its most perfect sight
To trade an eternity for a life-defining-night
How do we attempt rationality when Satan’s mistress Aphrodite offers you a bite?
The notion of being no better than our worst moments sends one into a quarrelsome plight
To be good most of the time in a state of nature would be pretty alright
But that is not the world we live in
And nine times out of ten we give in
No matter the detriment to our well-being and richness of the soul
With but a single opening we abandon our every goal
Self preservation always comes second to a woman’s touch
It is only my short sidedness and desperation that can manifest within me blush
From lover to friend—a transition that insists our hearts and minds bend
Why not abstain?
Darwin’s theory lends to releasing the pheromones embedded in her scent and name
What is it I wish to hold onto?
Certainly my answers do not lie with you
There are far more deserving of my good intentions brought about a sky blue
Why must we sink or swim?
Refrain—or fill to the brim?
Our indulgences shed light on the people we hope and hate to be
Perhaps that is why Sartre believed it a curse to be free
But if freedom, a curse
There exists no dividing line between breathing and hearse
So breathe I will, and free I am
And maybe next time I will turn down the most enticing indulgence offered at Satan’s hand.

Some live above and below the rainbow
Amongst heavens and heathens
Each for their own reasons
Our coordinates do not label our souls
Placement in this life is so often like the wind blows
Left to chance
Like a hand you may or may not know the pleasure of in dance
Those with true faith in this world need not prayer but romance
To blindly believe in something is pure
But when such purity can be met in the eyes of another– it becomes a cure
An arrival at peace and contention from a journey you’d rather not mention
Declining belief, dissolving hope, yet some so quickly turn their heads from a life ended by a length of rope
Despite our distinctions, we are of the same existence
Why judge another man’s ending, is it really so mind bending?
Have you not had such thoughts?
There is a fine line between thought and action
A line clearly defined
Yet on both sides a tip toed dance
Who will allow themselves to be saved by romance?
Who will succumb to the wicked ways of despair?
Our fate is not in the air, but it exists in the wind
Like riding the crescent of an ocean waive
Out of breath, clinging to at least one more inhale to the chest
Hanging by a moment
Maybe hanging here for you
Either way, sunk or saved, under a sky blue
It will not fade
So few little things to phase
We walk, we talk, we hope, we pray
To see, to meet, to believe, for a chance to leave
With the ones we love
With someone we love
With anyone at all.

Word candy for those who wait
Like good things, gone for those who are too late
Certainly not I
Never got an invitation
Spoken without hesitation
Without doubt, without reservation
Travel the world on a whim
Across the Pacific I would swim
Out of a plane in the sky
Certainly scared but still I’d dive
Through cumulonimbus clouds from so high
Steal a taste of heaven as I go by
I don’t want to ruin it so I close my eyes
Hope the god above will be my eyes
With an exhale of a deep breath
Vision is restored as are the lungs in my chest
The small earth grows quickly
With the rapidly rushing rain I fall swiftly
Droplet and man, one in the same
I clinch my teeth preparing to bear the pain
Into the Earth I crash and speak your name
In few words can I find such release
In fewer lips can I discover eternal peace
If it all happens too fast I may forget to say please
And if I don’t ask, you cannot deny permission
Remind me of the taste that’s bestowed to blind men vision
Wake up from this dream and finally stop wishing
She’s not at the bottom of a bay that you’ll find fishing
Live or be forgotten, risk and see what’s always been missing
Reality is perception- perceive perfection as our lips kissing.

Once more I find myself starring into the Jamaican horizon
Cotton candy blue and pink I fix my eyes on
I imagine heaven must look a bit like this
As if god visited the Caribbean for a day, and blessed it with a kiss
Certain my soul will remain young; so long each year I don’t miss
The place where rainbows form a halo above the sun
Where Red Stripe flows like water and the rum never seizes to run
Upon my return to this treasured land, it is both new and familiar faces that make it grand
Rocks upon the breaking waves
Love of something better, love of something bigger under the sun’s rays
Like children of Eden, we swim, we dance, and we play
In such moments it is so prevalent why Mr. Marley would ever say:
“Don’t worry, about a thing, ‘cause every little thing, is going be alright”
I look around at an impoverished nation
Yet there is no notion of suffering
Only peace, love, and happiness
It is for these reasons I will always return to this place
The heart of Jamaica is found on every citizen’s face
Warm eyes, brimming smiles
An ecstasy most have not tasted in a while
The meaning of life is the meaning of happiness
It most certainly runs wild in the Rasta’ way
It is not sold at Wal-Mart; there is no dollar amount for which you can pay
From toes to finger to tips
Eyelashes to smiling lips
Electricity fuels a passionate people
Like three little birds, to be wed in a steeple
They sing, they dance, they love, and romance
I am a better man because of this place
Even despite my wasted wicked ways
I leave refreshed, reminded of my best, and the man I wish to be
Because that man is me; it sometimes just takes a change of perspective to see
This life is the life I wish to lead
And those I share it with I most definitely need
Places without people are like love without loss
I hold you all close, for now and for always
From the rocks I stare heaven in the eyes
She smiles, and gives me a wink
Like a treasure destined to sink
No man alone could bare such beauty
It belongs to the Earth, stars, and sea
I love you Jamaica, you’ve always been good to me.

Hard to say
Harder to know
Where these places and people will go
Away from us
Away with us
Perhaps neither here nor there
Nothing seems certain
But love still seems to be the only answer
Not the simplicity of just the love between a man and a woman
But something much greater
Something that must save us all
If only we can believe
Every day is different
The difficulty comes at great contrast
Relative are these days, some slow, some just too fast
But even without the answers
And maybe even without the questions
We can hold on
Even if we don’t know to what
Even if we don’t know to who
We are bound by our blood
Our skin and bones as humans
The beat of our hearts inside our chests
Even if no beat the same
We are tuned to each other like the slow moving feet of a ballerina and the music released from a bow on a violin
Beauty is what love makes possible
Something we cannot give nor take
But are instruments of
Capable of such great and retched heights
Hoping to find a balance between
While the lingering high of ecstasy torments those days in-between
A taste of heaven before death
Places a burden on a man of unrest
So with each day, we wake
And with each breath, we take
We grow closer to the love we’ve convinced ourselves we cannot be without
And to settle would be to die
And in death the ones we loved would cry
And maybe there will or wont be gates opened in the sky
But what chance are you willing to take?
With just one lifetime to make
Something big out of something small
A story, a soul, a memory to change it all.

You told me you’d love me for the rest of our days
Under a star filled sky
There was a time when if I told you these things you would have asked me why
But those days are gone
Together we exist in harmony to the beats and rhythms of our song
Anything that feels this right cannot be wrong
So together we be, just you and me
Wait and see, we told the world
The beauty of collision, two hearts, a boy and a girl
On a whirlwind in which we spin
In and out, from bottom to top
I learned a new language, every word but stop
I know not the meaning of this notion
looking into your eyes is like the depth of an ocean
Deep blue and true
Hope for me and you
Hope for better days
Begin to count the ways
I’ve imagined myself kissing the lips on your face
When the moment is right
Not tonight, maybe not even this year
But in possibility there is nothing to fear
I hold you near
And feel your heart beating next to mine
In this moment heaven is defined
Tangible and real
A heart-beat cannot be concealed
It fuels our breath, from the chest
In you, I will invest
My illogical romanticism
My smiles, my tears
I have no fears
I absolve myself from wasted years
Of making something out of nothing
Like water to wine
I am no miracle worker; no not this time
I am but a peasant, wandering the streets
Blessed to have met, the one with such pleasant treats
The fruits of your soul, are but my single goal
To taste, to nurture, to protect and let be
No longer do I ask your happiness come with me
It is yours to have, yours to hold
Yours to lose, yours to mold
What will these words mean when we are growing old?
Will they be lost like so many other things that come and go?
These questions are questions because I just don’t know
But these days will pass
Perhaps this passion will last
Perhaps a bright blue sky above our heads, is all we need, to see, what we can be, if just once when you closed your eyes and made a wish, it was to be with me.

On our lake
Imagine perfection, the moment, never needing a break
To be content in this second
Blown away
And possibly forget to mention
What we had
What we have
Everything and nothing in between
You are what makes life worth living
I thank you for such
I know I have my moments
Where I really need to hush
Being lamb comes with pissing off the world this much
But I am in this for the long run
I give you eternity if I have it to live
If I have it to die
We will pass
This will and wont last
But one lifetime is enough
Silly to bank on heavens gates
When right now we don’t have to wait
This is
We are
Ride the magical train and it could take you far
Perhaps not a shooting star
Or a Disney land off in space
Pixie is simply a waste
If its pleasures you cannot taste
I am probably naïve
But to you I extend a invite because I believe
In a better life
In a better way
For a sun that stays
A sun set, blessing us with its ray
The sky, the moon, a love I can be without
Not requiring attention that leads me to shout
At peace
Our love comes with ease
With each other
A friend cares like a mother
Without the hassle
United we are Robert redford in the last castle
So let us exist
In a dream that a smart child can wish
To be a part of
Just a single glimpse
I can’t ask for the world
But thank the good lord if heaven is something like this.

He said you’re water for my soul when I’m thirsty

A bit
An ounce
Ready to pounce
Climb on me and bounce
Between the heavens and hell
Riding a star which fell
From a better place
A perfect face
Without a trace
Of imperfection
Erection, of a heart growing at a rapid pace
A sun that shines only for you
Coloring you with its rays
For better and worse days
Gripping you tight
I pray it be tonight
But no matter, you are in sight
Closer
By the second
By my side
Nothing to hide
Take me in this instant
I promise I cannot resist it
Devour me in a single sitting
Laying
